Your Father-daughter Relationship Building Ministry |

|
Q-1) Who is a “Father”?
A-1) A Father is the Man that takes on the accountability to raise a child. This means taking care of their physical, spiritual and emotional needs. This Man can be the child’s Biological Father or any type of “Fill-In” Father or Father Figure. Barring the availability of this type of relationship, then a Father, or Father Figure would simply be the Man that steps into this role as best he can, such as with a Pastor, or “adopted Grandpop.”
Q-2) What does it take to be a great Father Figure, or a Fill-In Dad?
A-3) Not much really. First and foremost is the desire for a non-sexual pursuit of her heart. Next, is a commitment to learn about her and participate in her life in a way that is meaningful to her. Lastly, prepare for the most rewarding experience that a Dad can ever have, and have a great time getting there!
Q-3) Where did the name “Taken620” come from?
A-3) Taken620 is derived from 1 Corinthians 6:20 which simply states, “You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body and in your spirit, which are Gods’.” Our body is therefore “Taken” once we have accepted Christ as our personal Savior and therefore it belongs to Christ. It is not ours to do with what we want, but is to be used to honor our God & Father. This is the foundation of Taken620.
Our Mission is to use Biblical principles and Christ-centered fellowship to help Fathers and Daughters establish, strengthen, and maintain a strong relationship with their Creator and a godly relationship with each other. This foundation will promote godly behaviors in their individual lives and their walk together.
Q-4) Why the focus on the Father-Daughter Relationship?
A-4) First of all, this is what God put on our hearts. You see, whenever men start to address this relationship in any meaningful way, our society, with its demented and warped attitude quickly kills this particular relationship with suspicion and an air of ignorance. Further, our enemy does not hesitate to twist, extinguish and confuse Gods truths. The stakes are real, and the consequences are deadly.
Every culture and political group agrees that when a Father or Father Figure is not involved in a healthy way with their daughters that they will grow up with little, or wrong, self esteem and tend to be sexually promiscuous. They have a greater chance of unwed pregnancies, STD’s, bulimia, suicide, drug addiction, and have higher divorce rates. For example, most public surveys show that around 50% of 12-14 year old girls that have no Father or Father Figure actively involved with them in a healthy relationship are sexually active in some way. That’s right, 12-14 year old girls! What is less common knowledge though is that 40% of the Daughters that have a Dad at home behave worse then those that don’t have any Father home at all! This is because their Father, or Father Figure, is either uninvolved with their lives, or not involved in the right manner (as was the case for myself, and Whitney’s Step Dad). This is driving a message home to these girls that they must somehow be even more worthless then if their Father had just plain left them.
Our daughters need, not “just want,” positive male relationships in order to grow up healthy and productive. Girls with either an uninvolved dad or a non-existent dad will have problems that they do not have to have, and their Fathers are missing out on some of the best experiences that they could ever have. Staying on the sidelines just isn’t an option anymore.
Q-5) Has this ministry helped anyone else?
A-5) Yes, numerous; and, thank God, the numbers are growing.
Q-6) Where did you learn about all of this?
A-6) Each of us has been through much more then what could be termed the “norm.” Some of this is shared right here on this website at our Testimonies Page, but there is much, much more “hands on” learning experiences that we both share. We draw off of many of these “life experiences,” but it is only by the grace of God that we can, for it has only been through Him that we even pulled through some of this stuff. The key has always been 3 fold though for making it through any of life’s tribulations; pray, read the Bible, and to not forsake the assembly. It has been through this commitment to Christ that we are here now, to share some of ourselves, and our experiences; both our successes through Christ, and our failures. Further, as this Ministry grows, there are other successes and we also glean information off of these experiences as well. We are also open to what the Holy Spirit has to put onto our hearts, and check these things out against His Word, and with other Christian authorities. Finally, we are constantly studying other peoples work and thoughts in this area. We sift through this material with a biblical magnifying glass and again, glean what is prosperous. |
